The main purpose of the implementation of barangay lockdown and granular lockdown is to immediately test and isolate not only those who are positive for the disease but also their close contacts who may be positive for the virus),” the local government said in a facebook post.

On Thursday, the city government placed seven areas in Barangay 123 and Barangay 179.

The move came after the city health department reported six active cases with 119 close contacts from at least 27 families in Barangay 123. The other areas have 10 active cases and at least 43 close contacts.

The city started the distribution of food packs to the residents affected by the lockdown.

Several areas were also placed under granular lockdown on Friday due to an increase of COVID cases.
