668 Navotas families get SAP aid after more than 1 year

The city government of Navotas has distributed to around 668 families the overdue P8,000 cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

“The wait is over. After more than a year, 668 families have now claimed their Bayanihan 1 second tranche. This is just the beginning though. We will continue to work with the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) until all qualified Navoteño beneficiaries have received their cash aid,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Last December 2020, Tiangco wrote to DSWD National Capital Region Director Vicente Gregorio, asking why some residents were excluded from the SAP 2nd tranche list.

The mayor sent a total of 51 letters bearing the names of 4,382 beneficiaries who claimed they did not receive their emergency cash subsidy.

On August 8, in coordination with the DSWD, the local government learned that 668 of the beneficiaries had incomplete data but were eligible to receive cash aid; 614 have received other forms of emergency subsidy, and 3,100 others are undergoing final validation of the agency.
