TESDA opens 6th assessment center for domestic work in NCR


The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) opened another assessment center for Domestic Work National Certificate II in the National Capital Region (NCR) on August 31.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña, who led the inauguration of TESDA PaMaMariSan (Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan) Training and Assessment Center (TPTAC) in Marikina City, said there is a need to put up more assessment centers for Domestic Work NC II as many Filipinos want to work abroad.

“We need to help those who want to work as foreign domestic workers. We need to ensure that they have the knowledge, skills as well as competence before they leave the country," he said in his speech.

Lapeña also reminded TESDA offices of his directive to establish additional assessment centers nationwide and ensure the integrity of the Agency’s Assessment and Certification System despite receiving large number of applications.

“I trust that TPTAC will all work with integrity and excellence for the benefit of our kababayans,” he said Earlier, TESDA said that it is anticipating more applicants for Domestic Work assessment this year compared to the total number of assessed applicants last year.

The agency has also announced that it has already assessed 54,233 domestic work applicants just halfway of the Year 2020 which is higher by 7,980 compared to the 46,253 assessed applicants in 2020.

Other assessment centers in the region are TESDA-NavotaAs Training Institute in Navotas, TESDA Women’s Center (TWC), and Pasay-Makati District Training and Assessment Center (PMDTAC) both in Taguig City, Quezon City Lingkod Bayan Skills Development Center (QCLBSDC), and in TESDA Manila Training and Assessment Center (TMTAC).
