San Juan, together with other cities in Metro Manila, started the distribution of the "ayuda" from the national government on August 11 after the National Capital Region (NCR) was placed under the ECQ due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and the threat of its more contagious Delta variant.

"As of August 31, 2021, San Juan City has completed the disbursement of ECQ Ayuda worth P101,794,000. This was led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Treasury Office," San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said

“I would like to thank our hardworking staff who braved the Delta variant surge of COVID-19 to disburse the much needed financial assistance of the national government to our residents. They are also heroes in this fight against the pandemic,” he added.

As of August 31, 2021, the city has fully vaccinated 123,957 individuals or 140 percent of its target population based on the 2020 Philippine Statistics Authority Census of population for San Juan City, which is 126,347.

Besides the completion of its "ayuda" distribution, the LGU also distributed 45,000 food packs to its residents on Thursday as part of its efforts to help San Juaneños amid the ongoing Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Metro Manila due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
