The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has rescued almost 100 people who were trapped inside a burning residential building in Madaluyong City on Thursday, Sept. 2.
PAF was tapped to respond to the fire after reports that some residents were having difficulty going out of the Metro Tower Building in Mandaluyong City.
“The Philippine Air Force S-76A Number 206 from the 505th Search and Rescue Group has successfully evacuated people trapped at the Metro Tower Building in Mandaluyong City which caught fire earlier today, September 02, 2021,” PAF said in a statement posted in its Facebook page.
The fire started at around 10:30 a.m. and was declared controlled more than five hours later.
Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata, chief military information officer, said the PAF chopper conducted 15 flights to rescue residents by airlifting them from the rooftop of the building.
