DOH reports over 16K additional COVID-19 cases

The country logged 16,621 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, Sept. 2, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The newly detected cases pushed the country’s total to 2,020,484, wherein, 7.3 percent or 146,510 are still active.

Ninety-six percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 1.1 percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are in critical condition, 1.1 percent have severe symptoms, and 0.99 percent are in moderate condition.

The death count also rose to 33,680---which is 1.67 percent of the case tally. The DOH reported 148 new deaths on Thursday.

Meanwhile, there were 10,965 more patients who defeated the viral illness, raising the recovery tally to 1,840,294 or 91.1 percent of the case total.

“Sa mga susunod na araw ay maari pang tumaas ang ating mga kaso ng COVID-19 (In the coming days, the number of new COVID-19 cases may still increase),” the DOH said.

“Ang ating adhikaing ligtas na malagpasan ang pandemyang COVID-19 ay maabot lamang sa pamamagitan ng ating masusing pagiingat at pagsunod sa Minimum Public Health Standards (Our goal of safely overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic can only be achieved through adherence to the Minimum Public Health Standards),” it added.
