Why Rose Van Ginkel once thought of quitting showbiz

She is among today’s hottest actresses, gaining recognition for her daring performance in Viva’s “Paglaki ko Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar.”

But did you know Rose Van Ginkel actually once thought of quitting show business altogether?

She shared in a recent interview, “Naisipan kong mag-quit kasi parang nagiging sensitive na ako. Ang dami kong question lagi sa sarili ko every time na binibigyan ako ng work.”

Note that Rose has been in the industry for years.

She actually got her start as a member of the singing group Pop Girls along with Nadine Lustre.

Nadine’s quick rise to fame affected Rose.

She added, “Sabi ko, baka time ko munang magpahinga. Hanapin ko ang sarili ko. Kasi hindi na siya healthy sa akin.”

Thankfully, she met director Darryl Yap.

It was Darryl who convinced her to keep going.

How?

Darryl related how it all started with Rose asking him why he is casting her in “Paglaki ko Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar,” despite her being a virtual nobody.

He then told her how she should just keep going as “the industry deserves a person na mahal yung industriya. Na kinukuwestiyon yung sarili niya kung karapat-dapat siya kahit karapat-dapat naman siya.”

“Sabi ko, 'You just need a role, a look, and the people will get to know you.”

Rose was somehow appeased. She has since accepted another daring role in “69+1,” wherein she gets to engage in a threesome with Maui Taylor, Janno Gibbs.
