A police report disclosed the two soldiers were rendering their duty at the checkpoint when the area was rocked by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Three men on board a single motorcycle arrived and fired toward the victims, who were then unconscious because of the blast.

One of the suspects then took the issued firearm of Cpl. Bunda, an R4A3 rifle with an M204 grenade launcher.

The suspects escaped while the wounded personnel were brought to the Lamitan District Hospital for treatment.
