'COVID-19 frontliners' heroism should inspire Filipinos' --- Andanar

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Monday called on the Filipino people to remember the sacrifices of all frontliners, the “modern-day heroes” who are risking their lives for the safety and protection of the people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement on the occasion of National Heroes’ Day, Andanar said this can be done by supporting the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program to ensure that the sacrifices of the so-called modern-day heroes will not go to waste.

“As we remain under the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, let’s remember the great sacrifice of our modern-day heroes, our frontliners and economic workers who risk their lives for our safety, protection, and recovery from this global health crisis,” he said.

“May all of us be inspired by the sacrifices of our national heroes and our modern-day heroes into having a purpose, serving others, and bringing positive changes to ourselves and all Filipinos for our collective progress as a nation.”

The communications secretary also encouraged the people to honor the bravery, courage, and valor displayed by the country’s heroes who fought against colonizers.

“Let us pay tribute to them by reflecting our history of fighting, upholding, and promoting freedom and democratic ideals by going against corruption, social injustices, and all of the other ills faced by our great nation,” Andanar said.
