P20-M worth of marijuana destroyed in Kalinga raids


Joint teams of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) destroyed a total of P20.23 million worth of marijuana plants in a raid on eight plantation sites during their August 24 to 25 operation in Tinglayan Kalinga.

PDEA spokesperson Derrick Arnold Carreon said the anti-narcotics personnel destroyed P17.59 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMP) and dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops valued at P2.64 million.

The operation started at 5 a.m. in Barangay Loccong on the initial day and was carried out until the next day by the combined units of PDEA Kalinga Provincial Office, Naval Forces of Northern Luzon, Police Drug Enforcement Group Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), PNP Kalinga among others.

There were no reports of arrests.
