JERUSALEM -- Israel's Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported 10,945 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily record in the year, pushing the country's tally of infections to cross the threshold of 1 million.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,010,055 on Tuesday, amid a rapid resurgence of the pandemic since later June.
The death toll from the coronavirus in Israel rose by 24 to 6,880, while the number of patients in serious condition increased from 664 to 690, the ministry said.
The total recoveries from the virus climbed to 928,358 after 4,742 newly recovered cases were recorded, while active cases increased to 74,817, it added.
The number of people who have received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Israel surpassed 5.91 million, or 63.3 percent of its total population, while over 5.45 million have taken two doses and over 1.63 million have got three jabs.
