The cracks on Topaz Road in Barangay San Antonio, Pasig that appeared between a construction site and a condominium building were first seen on August 22 around 5:30 p.m.

Security guards of the buildings in the area said they heard a loud explosion during that time. Upon checking, they then saw cracks on Topaz Road.

“Our initial findings showed that soil erosion could have caused the cracks. Yesterday, it was raining very hard here,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Lising said the construction site in the area will cease its operations for the meantime.

As there is still no imminent danger in the area, Lising said residents and workers in four buildings near the cracks will be not be evacuated.

On the other hand, Lising said that they, along with city hall officials, will check the safety of the buildings, or if they incurred any damage.

The barangay chairman called on the public not to panic as local government officials are finding out what really happened.

Mayor Vico Sotto and key city hall officials have inspected the area on Monday. He was also given a briefing on the measures being taken to address the matter.
