Filipino-Japanese golfer Yuka Saso shot a one-under par 71 in the second round of the AIG Women’s British Open Friday (Friday night in Manila) at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.
The 20-year-old Saso had back-to-back birdies on 4 and 5 but she closed the front nine with a bogey. She also bogeyed on 12, the same hole where she buried an eagle in the first round with a pitch off the fringe from more than 30 feet.
Saso’s third birdie came on 15.
Saso, the reigning US Women’s Open champion, now has a two-day total of 139, which put her at five-under for the $4.5 million tournament leading to the final two days this weekend.
Tied for the clubhouse lead at seven-under are Mina Harigae of the USA and Canada’s Georgia Hall of Canada both at 137. Harigae shot two-day rounds of 70-67, while Hall a 68-69.
