TACLOBAN CITY - A municipal vice-mayor was nabbed for possessing several firearms and ammunition in San Isidro, Leyte Thursday, August 19.
Police Major Duane Francis Ducducan, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Northern Leyte chief, identified the suspect as Isidro Balmoria, 57, a resident of Sitio Baras, Brgy. Matungao of said town.
Ducducan said a complainant went to their office to report Balmoria's illegal activity, which prompted them to apply for a search warrant.
The team was able to seize a caliber .45 colt with magazine assembly; 41 live ammunition; 1 caliber .380 Llama with 4 magazine assembly; 20 live ammunition; caliber .38 revolver with 9 ammunition; caliber .45; a silencer/suppressor; 3 magazine assembly for M16; 53 live ammos for 9 mm pistol; and 71 live ammos for 5.56/M16.
The suspect was brought to CIDG Ormoc, Camp Downes, Ormoc City along with the confiscated evidence for documentation and proper disposition.
Major Ducducan said charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against the suspect.
