MB Daily News Update

A grim record of 17,231 new cases was posted by the Department of Health (DOH), which was the highest number of cases in one day. And this came just hours after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases came up with the recommendation to downgrade restrictions in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Bataan to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

This developed as authorities said that granular lockdowns will be stepped up, and the curfew of 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. will remain in Metro Manila.

An exclusive MB report showed that not even one percent of the prison population in the country has been inoculated against the COVID-19.

These are among the top stories this Friday afternoon, August 20, 2021.
