Jimmy Alapag is cherishing the experience of playing a part in the Sacramento Kings’ title victory in the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The PBA and Gilas Pilipinas legend took to social media to express the “amazing experience” he had as an assistant of the Kings squad that ruled the NBA offseason tournament for rookies, sophomores and G League players.

“What an amazing experience here in Vegas for the NBA Summer League!!” Alapag said. “Thankful to have have been a part of such a special group of people, from the coaching staff, trainers and support staff, to the players.

“Watching the team come together over the past few weeks was amazing to watch!!” added Alapag, whose Kings gig was his first coaching stint since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alapag also thanked Sacramento’s Summer League coach Bobby Jackson, fellow assistants and the rest of the Kings for the chance to have another tour of duty in the Summer League.

Sacramento’s other assistants include Doug Christie, Will Scott, Akachi Okugo, Jonah Herscu, Isaac Yacob, Garrius Adams, Lindsey Harding, Rico Hines and Paul Johnson.

Alapag saw the Kings go 5-0 in Las Vegas, including a 100-67 win over the Boston Celtics in the championship game.

He is hoping that the Summer League will open the door for opportunities to coach in the United States, especially Alapag and his family opted to leave the Philippines last September.
