Based on the enrollment figure released by DepEd, there are 5,969, 200 learners currently enrolled in public schools, private schools and State Universities and Colleges/Local Universities and Colleges (SUCs/LUCs) that offer basic education nationwide as of Friday, Aug. 20.

The enrollment figure, which is based on the Learner Information System (LIS) - Quick Count, showed that there are 1, 411, 893 students who enrolled at the basic education level since the regular enrollment period started on Aug. 16.

DepEd said that the enrollment figure, which uses the LIS as the database, showed that there are 1, 326, 004 enrollees in public schools; 83, 980 in private schools and 1, 909 in SUCs/LUCs.

Among all the regions, DepEd’s latest enrollment figure showed that Region IV-A has the highest number of enrollment with a running total of 871, 228 enrollees. This is followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 508, 702 enrollees and Region III with 506, 159.

The enrollment figure, DepEd stressed, included the number of learners registered early this year.

Based on the Early Registration data as of June 7, there were 4, 557, 327 learners who registered early for the incoming school year.

DepEd conducted the Early Registration program for SY 2021-2022 from March to May to encourage parents of incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 students to enlist early.

DepEd, in Order No. 32 s. of 2021, provided schools various options for implementing an enhanced enrollment process.

These guidelines, DepEd said, adheres to the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), the Office of the President, and the Department of Health (DOH).

DepEd’s enhanced enrollment process aims to provide a range of options to facilitate the enrollment of students for all public schools nationwide. This also covers the Alternative Learning System (ALS) programs offered by DepEd.

Due to the ongoing public health situation in the country brought by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, a remote enrollment system is being implemented - especially in schools under stricter community quarantine classifications.

Done through alternative means of communication that do not require physically reporting to schools such as text, call, email, and online messaging, DepEd said that remote enrollment will help ensure the safety of both parents and teachers.

The regular enrollment period in public schools will be held until Sept. 13 which is also the school opening date approved by President Duterte for the incoming school year.
