The Department of Education (DepEd) encouraged parents and guardians of school-aged children and youth to enroll them as early as possible for the incoming school year.
“We are urging the public to enroll their children early enough to avoid overcrowding,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones told the Manila Bulletin in a Viber message.
DepEd started its regular enrollment for School Year (SY) 2021-2022 on Aug. 16. It will conducted until Sept. 13 which is also the first day of classes approved by President Duterte.
To ensure the safety of parents, learners, teachers and school staff, DepEd issued the enhanced enrollment guidelines for SY 2021-2022 to guide the schools, parents and teachers on the enrollment procedures amidst the ongoing public health situation.
Primarily, DepEd is implementing a remote enrollment system in areas under strict community quarantine restrictions. Schools were also allowed to come up with a range of enrollment options to ensure that the process will be accessible to stakeholders.

DepEd reminded that parents of incoming Grades 1-6, 8-10, and 12 learners will be contacted by the school preferably through previous advisers for remote enrollment procedures or they may also reach out to their child’s adviser for enrollment through the contact numbers published by the school.
Parents of incoming kindergarten, Grades 7 and 11 are also asked to communicate or re-affirm their intent to enroll their children to a school of their choice via digital and/or physical enrollment platforms established by schools just like the procedures during the early registration.
Transferees, on the other hand, were asked by DepEd to “directly contact” the receiving school through its published enrollment contact details. Previous adviser is no longer required to facilitate submission of the MLESF of learners that are about to transfer to another school, DepEd said.
“Balik-Aral” enrollees and those under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) may directly contact their preferred schools to communicate their intent to enroll via digital and/or physical enrollment platforms established by schools and barangays with community learning centers (CLCs).
DepEd, in a statement issued on Aug. 9, said that face-to-face classes will still not be allowed this SY unless permitted by the President.
“However, education must continue to give hope and contribute to the normalization of activities in the country and facilitate the development of our learners and the restoration of normalcy in their lives,” Briones said.
