More than half of Pasay City's barangays get 'ayuda'

More than 50 percent of Pasay City's barangays have received the "ayuda" or financial assistance given by the national government for those who are affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

According to the Pasay City Public Information Office (PIO) head Jun Burgos, the city's Social Welfare and Development Division (SWDD) has already distributed the financial aid or “ayuda” to 111 out of 201 barangays as of August 18.

The PIO said 69, 542 heads of households or 201,683 individuals already received their “ayuda.”

The SWDD has scheduled the distribution of the financial assistance to 25 barangays on Thursday (August 19) with 11,353 heads of household or 33,766 individuals.

The PIO said that once the distribution to the 25 barangays is completed on Thursday, this will bring the completion percentage of the "ayuda" distribution to about 80 percent.

Burgos said Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano announced on Tuesday that the city government is planning to ask for an extension in the distribution of the “ayuda” of at least two weeks.

The ABS-CBN reported that in Barangay 183, one of the biggest barangays in the city, the "ayuda" will be distributed in two days -- Wednesday and Thursday -- to more than 12,000 families listed.

The distribution will be conducted in two areas -- Villamor Airbase Elementary School and the barangay gym.
