More than 18K elective posts up for grabs in May 2022 elections

The Commission on Elections said over 18,000 elective positions will be up for grabs in the May 2022 general elections.

Based on Comelec Resolution No. 10713, a total of 18,180 elective positions in the national, local, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections next year.

"The Commission hereby resolves to fix the number and allocation of seats for the 09 May 2022 national and local elections," the Comelec said.

According to the resolution, the following elective seats will be available in next year’s national poll: one seat for president, one seat for vice president, 12 senators, and 63 seats for party-list representatives.

For the local posts: 253 district representatives, 81 governors, 81 vice governors, 782 provincial board members, 146 city mayors, 146 city vice mayors, 1,650 city councilors; 1,488 municipal mayors; 1,488 municipal vice mayors; and 11,908 municipal councilors.

For the BARMM elections, the poll body said available positions are: 40 party representatives, 32 parliamentary district representatives, and eight reserved and sectoral representatives.
