2 dead, family of 4 hurt in Negros road accident


BACOLOD CITY – A motorcycle driver and a 17-year-old girl were killed while a family of four was injured after they figured in a road accident in Barangay 2-A, Manapla, Negros Occidental Saturday, Aug. 14.

Police identified one of the fatalities as Alex Mahusay, 45, of Barangay Sta. Teresa.

Police Lt. Leonil Adolacion, deputy police chief of the Manapla Municipal Police Station, said that Mahusay was allegedly speeding on his way home, and overtook another motorcycle, when he failed to control his vehicle, causing him to hit the rear part of a tricycle where a family was riding also on their way home.

Adolacion said that Mahusay fell into a canal, and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Adolacion said that tricycle driver Richard Aguirre, 55, of Barangay 2-A, and his three passengers, including his live-in partner and two relatives, sustained minor injuries, while his 17-year-old daughter, who was sitting at his back did not survive.

Adolacion said that only one of the four wounded victims is still confined in a hospital, and is now stable.
