A street in Angono, Rizal, was locked down Friday night, August 13 after local health authorities recorded four active COVID-19 cases among its residents.
In its Facebook page, the Barangay Kalayaan in Angono announced that its chairman, Bernardo Balagtas, has placed Tiamson Street under “road Lockdown” starting Friday night until further notice.
It was learned that four of the five new COVID-19 cases in Barangay Kalayaan are residing in the area.
While Tiamson Street is on lockdown, ambulant vendors, delivery riders including food deliveries, and non-residents are banned from entering the street, which has already been barricaded with metal railings.
Residents are refrained from going out of the barrier as part of the strict health protocols.
It was not announced if the affected residents will be receiving food assistance from the barangay.
The Angono Municipal Health Office said 70 new cases were recorded earlier, 11 of them are in Barangay Kalayaan, 21 in Barangay San Isidro, eight in Barangay San Roque, and the others in San Isidro; San Vicente, Sto. Nino, San Pedro, Mahabang Parang, Poblacion Itaas, and Poblacion Ibaba.
Out of the total of 2,423 confirmed cases, there were 2,253 recoveries and 100 deaths in Angono as of August 13.
