Bulacan logs 63 COVID-19 deaths, over 2,000 active cases in five days


The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Bulacan has recorded a total of 63 COVID-19 deaths and 2,028 active cases in just five days.

The PHO said that 63 individuals died of COVID-19 in a span of five days, 17 of them on August 9; 17 on August 10; six on August 11; seven on August 12; and 16 on August 13.

Bulacan health officials said the total number of confirmed cases in the province since the start of the pandemic last year reached 49,421. Out of this tally, 45,279 have already recovered, while 3,109 are still active cases.

Of the active cases, 437 are confined in hospitals, 86 are admitted in Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facility (TTMF) while 2,586 others are under home isolation.

The highest number of reported active cases was recorded in Malolos, Calumpit, and Guiguinto.

The overall COVID-19-related mortality in the province reached 1,033.

On Thursday, August 12, Governor Daniel R. Fernando announced that Bulacan will be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 16 to August 31, 2021.
