Execration threw away a strong start in the deciding game as it suffered a 2-1 defeat to Team SMG in their lower bracket second round match in the Beyond The Summit (BTS) Pro Series Season 7-Southeast Asia on Friday, August 13.

Behind stand-in mid laner Mark Anthony "Bob" Urbina's Templar Assassin, Execration built a 5K gold lead early in Game 3 but the Malaysian duo of Kam "Moon" Boon Seng on Winter Wyvern and Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng on Luna sparked the comeback for SMG.

The Filipino squad whipped up a glimmer of hope when it punished the Malaysian team for its attempt to get a mega creeps twice prior to the 40-minute mark.

However, SMG secured the second Roshan kill and the Aegis of Immortal for MidOne before proceeding to wipe out Execration and force the GG call in the 46th minute.

Bob's Lina led Execration's come-from-behind win in Game 1 but the Filipinos failed to close out MidOne and company who took Game 2 in the same fashion.

It was a disappointing campaign for the boys in black and blue after emerging atop the group stage only to lose twice in the playoffs and suffer an early exit in the $50,000 (P2.5 million) online tournament organized by BTS and backed by LOOT.BET.

Execration wasted away an opening win advantage as it yielded to Fnatic, 2-1, in the upper bracket first round on Thursday.

Another Filipino team in OB x Neon Esports also got eliminated early in the eight-team regional tourney, absorbing a 2-0 beatdown to defending champion Motivate.Trust Gaming in the lower bracket first round.

Meanwhile, Carlo "Kuku" Palad and T1 are squaring off against MG Trust as of writing time, with the winner advancing to face SMG in the lower bracket semifinals on Saturday.
