Belo apologizes for 'Pandemic Effect' video campaign

The latest commercial called "Pandemic Effect" of the medical-aesthetic clinic Belo has received a backlash from netizens.

The video starts off with a beautiful woman, tuning in to watch the latest news on TV. To her dismay, she is quickly bombarded by a series of stress-inducing headlines. And slowly, the anxiety gets to her, as seen in the way her appearance changes to the point where she looks unrecognizable.

But apparently, many were "offended" by Belo's representation of how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed one's physical look.

However, the Medical Group of the dermatologist and television personality Vicki Belo issued an apology.

"We apologize about our recent 'Pandemic Effect' film. Thank you for being gracious in letting us know your thoughts about it," they said.

"We hear you. You helped us see what we failed to see, which is that the film is insensitive and upsetting. Because of this, we have taken the ad down."

The group said they commit themselves to learn from this and to bring their learnings into the future.
