Pasay City government starts distributing rice to residents

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano personally distributed 5-kilo sacks of rice to about 1,977 residents, which is part of the city government’s commitment in helping them while the National Capital Region (NCR) is under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Aug. 6 to 20.

Rubiano visited Barangays 164, 200, 125 and 126 and distributed the rice to each resident. The mayor distributed 683 sacks of rice to residents in Barangay 164; 303 packs in Barangay 200; 664 packs in Barangay 125 and 327 packs in Barangay 126.

Rubian said food pack assistance will also be distributed to residents, an initiative of the city government while waiting for the release of the P356-million financial aid from the national government.

She said the P356 million fund coming from the national government will be distributed immediately as cash to all qualified residents. The beneficiaries will each receive P1,000 or P4,000 for every household based on the guidelines issued by the national government.

Rubiano added that prior to the declaration of the ECQ, she had coordinated with the city council and to the office of congressman to allot funds that will be used to help the city residents during the lockdown.

She said the city government will conduct a house-to-house distribution of food packs to the residents.
