Pasay City’s lone public hospital, Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH), has reached 59 percent occupancy rate for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) beds including ICU (intensive care unit) beds on Aug. 8.
Dr. John Victor de Gracia, PCGH officer-in-charge, said with the high occupancy rate, the hospital will be implementing the Phase 2 of hospital emergency management system (HEMS).
De Gracia said under the Phase 2, the hospital outpatient department (OPD) will do only limited teleconsulting; the number of admission for non-COVID-19 cases will be limited; Pasay City residents will be prioritized for admission; and elective surgical procedures will be limited to cancer patients only.
In addition, the hemodialysis unit will not accept walk-in patients but will still accept previous OPD patients and prioritize admitted and emergency cases; OPD laboratory and diagnostic procedures will be limited to only 10 patients per day; and hospitals infection control protocols for watchers and employees will be strictly implemented.
He said the 59 percent occupancy rate for COVID-19-confirmed ward is classified under moderate risk rating. The hospital only has three COVID-19 ICU beds and 10 regular beds available.
De Gracia said the hospital has reached 40 percent occupancy for COVID-19 transition ward and there are 12 isolation beds available.
