64 curfew violators apprehended in Muntinlupa on first day of ECQ


The Muntinlupa police apprehended 64 persons on the first day of implementation of the unified curfew under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

The whole National Capital Region (NCR) is under ECQ from Aug. 6 to 20 and Metro Manila mayors have implemented new curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

According to the Muntinlupa police, of the 64, five are minors and 59 are adults. A total of 37 people were fined while the five minors and 22 adults were given warnings.

By barangay, eight adults were fined and seven were warned for a total of 15 in Tunasan, while the five minors were caught in Bayanan.

In Alabang, 15 adults were warned and 29 adults in Poblacion were fined. No one was apprehended in Putatan, Sucat, Buli, Cupang and Ayala Alabang.

The Muntinlupa police headed by Col. Melecio Buslig have set up quarantine control points (QCPs) and checkpoints at various areas in the city, including the Muntinlupa-San Pedro, Laguna boundary, Biazon Road-Alabang, Sucat-Taguig boundary and Alabang Zapote Road, to implement measures under ECQ.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), 1,203 personnel have been deployed at 89 QCPs in Metro Manila. There are also 4,346 other PNP personnel deployed for mobile control points in the NCR.

The Muntinlupa City government has implemented a total liquor ban during ECQ, prohibiting the sale and consumption of liquor and other intoxicating or alcoholic beverages. It also announced that quarantine passes are not required in the city during ECQ.

Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs), meanwhile, will only need to present a valid ID to authorities.
