Buy-bust yields P7-M shabu in Oriental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro - Police has announced the arrest of a suspected pusher of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation that resulted in the confiscation of P7-million worth of shabu in a subdivision just several meters away from the regional police headquarters here.

Police Brigadier General Nelson B. Bondoc, regional director of Philippine National Police-MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) identified the suspect as Larry Dumip-Ig Chua, 46, married, a resident of Blk. 10-G, Lot 3, Phase 3E, Teachers' Village, Malabon City.

Brig. Gen. Bondoc said the suspect was arrested at about 1 p.m. on August 1 outside his residence at Sitio 3, Sunrise Village, Barangay Suqui, Calapan City by combined elements of Calapan City Police Station and Drug Enforcement Unit of Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO).

P/Colonel Mardito C. Anguluan, provincial director of Oriental Mindoro PPO said the successful operation was a product of several months of surveillance on the suspect who confessed later that he got the drug items from a supplier in Taguig.

A poseur-buyer handed over P15,000 marked money to the suspect and after inspection of his personal belongings, yielded later a total of 53 pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance weighing one kilo and 50 grams with standard drug value of P7,140,000, police said.

The suspect is now detained at the city jail where charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 are being readied against him.
