3.76 million Filipinos jobless in June—PSA




The number of jobless Filipinos increased in June as more individuals enter the labor force amid the pandemic, preliminary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed Tuesday, August 3.

As of June 2021, an estimated 3.76 million people 15 years old and above were unemployed, that is 0.8 percent higher compared to 3.73 million in the previous month.
Unemployment rate was recorded at 7.7 percent in June, unchanged from its May level.
According to the PSA, the labor force participation rate was registered at 65 percent, or about 48.84 million Filipinos who were either employed or unemployed. 
June’s labor force participation rate increased from 64.6 percent in May, 63.2 percent in April, 63.5 percent in February, and 60.5 percent in January.
