The Pasay City government placed on Monday (August 2) 14 barangays under the local enhanced community quarantine (LECQ) to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The city government recorded a total of 149 active and 39 new cases on Monday (August 2). The figure ballooned to 190 active and 58 new cases the next day.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city government continues to implement the LECQ, which has been proven effective in containing the cases.
The mayor said the Pasay City General Hospital recorded a 50% occupancy rate of COVID-19 ward on August 2.
Dr. John Victor de Gracia, the hospital officer-in-charge, reported that the hospital has one available bed for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 15 regular beds for COVID-19 patients.
The city hospital is currently in full capacity for medical and surgery non-COVID-19 cases. The patients in the emergency room were advised to transfer to other hospitals for definitive management.
