Tony Hawk explains: Margielyn Didal's viral post was meant as a joke

There are moments when you have to explain the humor behind the joke, which actually defeats the purpose of the entire attempt to make someone laugh.

In short, there's no explanation needed.

But legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk had to so after being asked, "How does it feel to go to the Olympics and not be recognized by competing skaters, like Margielyn Didal?"

Clearly, Didal, the sensational skateboarder from Cebu, Philippines, is one humourous and jolly person.

And Hawk said, revealing on his social media: "So I had to explain that she was joking with her caption. My life is weird."

The 22-year-old Didal, who won the heart of skateboarding fans around the world after happily competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, earlier posted a photo of her with The Birdman with a comical caption.

It read, "this guy asked me to take a photo with him and I let him because he looks like Tony Hawk."

The 53-year-old Hawk, who has a video game exactly named after him, has been tweeting hilarious conversations on how strangers he had interacted with did not recognize him.

And so he would go with the flow and won't reveal that he's actually the Tony Hawk.

Hawk was present during the skateboarding event and cheered for the young Olympians who braved the Ariake Sports Urban Park.

Didal, for her part, landed seventh place in the women's street skateboarding event and left the park with a huge smile on her face and the signature seal of approval sans a medal. (Carlo Anolin) ###
