Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez revealed this on Monday, August 2.

"The Commission en banc has not - repeat not - discussed the possibility of extension of the voter registration period," he said in a brief statement.

There have been calls to extend the voter registration period which will end on September 30.

Jimenez, meantime, said that the voter registration will continue until Thursday, in areas currently conducting voter registration operations.

In an advisory, the Comelec said voter registration has been suspended in Iloilo City; Iloilo province; Cagayan de Oro City; and Gingoog City from August 2 to 7 due to the enhanced community quarantine.

Voter registration is also suspended in Ilocos Norte; Bataan; Lapu Lapu City; and Mandaue City from August 2 to 15 due to the modified enhanced community quarantine.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) earlier placed loilo City, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro City, and Gingoog City under ECQ from August 1 to 7.

Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Lapu-Lapu City, and Mandaue City, on the other hand, were placed under MECQ from August 1 to 15.

The Comelec already said that voter registration will be suspended in the National Capital Region during the ECQ or from August 6 to 20.
