BPO workers in QC receive COVID jab

The Quezon City government has started the inoculation of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) employees on July 21 at SM City North EDSA Skydome.

“We signed a memorandum of agreement stipulating our collaborative effort to facilitate and expedite the vaccination process of their employees. We’re happy to have finally gotten the ball rolling given the fresh vaccine supply we recently received from the national government,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The vaccination will continue until August 3 to inoculate a total of 5,500 workers and 3,000 registered residents.

The QC government signed the agreements with the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), and the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) last May.

“We recognize the invaluable contribution of our workers from the IT-BPM sector to our local economy. They’re among the essential frontliners of our city. There’s no reason to delay this well-deserved service to them,” Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) Head Margie Santos said.

The industry groups will provide their own medical team to inoculate their employees and other priority individuals from nearby barangays who registered through the QC Vax Easy website.

The vaccines that will be administered will come from the local government.
