In less than 10 minutes, all slots for the first two weeks of Manila’s drive-thru vaccination have been taken, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced Friday.

The 1,400 slots for the first two-week run of the city’s drive-thru vaccination were opened during Domagososa’s live capital report on Facebook.

Domagoso said this development only shows the public’s urge to get vaccinated immediately.

“Ang taong bayan gusto na ng bakuna, kahit harangan mo pa ‘yan, lumulusong ‘yang mga ‘yan, kasi gusto na nila ng proteksyon, (The people already want the vaccine, even if you block them, they will still push through, because they want protection),” the mayor said.

During the launching of the drive-thru vaccination on Saturday (July 31), the mayor said he is also planning to create additional slots to cater to more individuals.

"Now we have another good problem. We're thinking siguro in a matter of few days baka magdagdag pa kami...Pwede pang lumaki ito so it can serve katulad ng isang mass vaccination site (we might add more slots...We can make this bigger so it can serve like a mass vaccination site). It can serve about a thousand or two in a day but for the meantime, pag-aaralan natin 'yung (we will study first the) time and motion, then we'll go bigger," he said.

Domagoso said those who successfully secured a slot for vaccination will be receiving a message from the LGU confirming their schedule.

The mayor also assured that those who are scheduled for vaccination during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20 will be allowed to go outside of their homes.

Domagooso said individuals scheduled for vaccination will just have to present their respective QR codes to authorities.
