ILOILO CITY – For its various initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has been declared by the Philippine National Police (PNP) declared as the country’s most outstanding unit in community relations (PCR) for the city category.
Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, ICPO chief, received the award at Camp Crame, the PNP national headquarters in Metro Manila Thursday, July 29.
Garbanzos said the award signifies the collective efforts of cops assigned in Arevalo, City Proper, Jaro, La Paz, Mandurriao, and Molo districts.
Since last year, ICPO initiated the “We share because we care”, the “Project Palangga” and “BARANGAYnihan” programs. These programs gave food and other necessary items to marginalized families who have been affected by the impact of the restrictions of COVID-19.
ICPO’s award also signifies the efforts of several Ilonggo cops who have been lauded by
PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar for going beyond their duties as law enforcers.
Eleazar lauded Police Executive Master Sergeant Cesar Pinuela of the Jaro PNP for maintaining a community pantry and conducting Bible studies.
Eleazar also lauded Patrolmen Rico Yan Inocencio, Vinjie Nebit and Roman Paja of Jaro PNP for taking care of a homeless woman who gave birth at the plaza and then taking her and the baby to the hospital.
