DOH Region 4-A logs 36 COVID Delta variant cases

LAGUNA – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 36 COVID-19 Delta variant cases in Region 4-A or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area (Calabarzon) Thursday, July 29.

Cavite reported nine, particularly in Imus City, Cavite City, Gen. Trias, Silang, and Carmona; Laguna, 17, in Bay, Los Baños, San Pedro, San Pablo City, and Calamba City; Batangas, six, in Bauan, Lemery, San Juan, and Lipa City; and Rizal, four, in Cainta and Rodriguez.

No case was reported in Quezon.

There are three active cases and 21 recoveries. Eleven are for verification and one has pending test result.

DOH Region 4-A Director Dr. Eduardo Janairo has deployed epidemiology and health emergency teams to affected communities to conduct mass swab testing.

“We need to immediately identify the causes of the virus, how it originates, and how it was transmitted in order to stop its spread in the communities,” he added.

“Samples taken from the contacts of the positive cases were already sent to the Philippine Genome Center for validation. What is important right now is for everyone not to panic and continue to follow community health protocols and most important is to get vaccinated against the COVID virus.”
