While traveling off Barangay Navarro, Socorro the propeller shaft of the motorbanca accidentally fell into the water. The boat captain immediately stopped the engine to prevent untoward maritime incidents.

The PCG said the motorbanca drifted approximately 500 meters away from its location due to strong winds and huge waves while waiting for rescue assistance.

Upon receiving information, PCG Station Surigao del Norte Commander Elaine Pangilinan deployed a search and rescue team to locate the troubled motorbanca.

The rescue team rendered immediate assistance and towed the distressed motorbanca to Feeder Port in Socorro for initial inquiries.

Pangilinan reminded seafarers to stay vigilant in venturing at sea particularly during rough sea condition.
