K-pop superstars BTS’ song “Butter” bounced back to the No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 as the group continued to reign on the chart for nine consecutive weeks.

Billboard reported that “Butter” is the new No. 1 on the July 31-dated chart, replacing their own Hot 100-topper “Permission to Dance,” which took the top spot last week and is now No. 7, the same position that “Butter” had on the July 24-dated chart.

“Butter” now has spent eight weeks on top of Hot 100 and has tied the record set by Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” from January to March this year, according to Billboard.

The Billboard Hot 100 chart is based on US streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales.

For the July 31 chart based on MRC Data, “Butter” recorded 30.7 million radio airplay audience impressions, up by 2 percent from last week’s 29.7 million and 8.8 million US streams as of July 22, a decrease of 21 percent from 11.2 million streams last week. It also sold 115,600 downloads, up by 132 percent from last week’s 49,800.

“Permission to Dance,” on the other hand, sold 85,000 downloads this week, down by 39 percent from last week’s 140,100.

“Butter” is also back at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart this week from No. 2 last week while “Permission to Dance” dropped to No. 2.

“As ‘Butter’ replaces ‘Permission to Dance’ at No. 1 on the Hot 100, a week after ‘Permission to Dance’ took over for ‘Butter,’ BTS is the first act to displace itself at No. 1 with a new leader and then send the previous No. 1 back to the summit with no other acts holding the top spot in between,” according to Billboard.
