BTS’ ‘MIC Drop’ remix music video reaches 1 billion views on YouTube

K-pop idol group BTS have added another feat when their “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” music video garnered one billion views on YouTube. 

“MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” reached the milestone on July 26, or in three years and eight months since the music video was uploaded on Nov. 24, 2017. 

This is BTS’ fourth music video on YouTube to garner one billion views after “DNA,” “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey and “Dynamite.” 

“DNA,” released on Sept. 18, 2017,  reached the one billion mark on June 1, 2020, or after two years and eight months, making BTS the first K-pop boy band to have a music video with one billion views. 

“Boy With Luv” followed suit on Oct. 24, 2020, or 18 months after it was uploaded on YouTube on April 12, 2019. 

“Dynamite” garnered one billion views on April 12 this year, or nearly eight months since its release on YouTube on Aug. 21, 2020. 

Currently, BTS have five music videos on YouTube’s top 10 most viewed MVs in the first 24 hours of release.  

Their latest music video “Permission to Dance,” released on July 9, garnered 72.3 million views in its debut.
