Jang Ki-yong off to military next month

Korean actor Jang Ki-yong, who recently starred in the K-drama “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” will be enlisting in the military next, his agency announced.

YG Entertainment said on July 26 that Jang Ki-yong will be enlisting on Aug. 23 after finishing the filming of his drama.

"Jang Ki-yong will complete the filming for the drama ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up’ and enlist in the military on Aug. 23," it said. The 28-year-old star will be serving as an active duty soldier.

The agency added that “to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the place and time of enlistment will not be disclosed. Please cheer for Jang Ki-yong to complete his military service diligently and come back in good health.”

Jang Ki-yong received a lot of love from fans when he starred opposite Lee Hyeri in ““My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” which aired its finale on July 15.

He is currently filming “Now, We Are Breaking Up” together with co-star Song Hye-kyo. In the drama, Song Hye-kyo will play the role of Ha Yeong-eun, a team leader in design for a fashion company while Jang Ki-yong will essay the role of Yoon Jae-gook, a fashion photographer.

Jang Ki-yong started as a fashion model in 2012 and debuted as an actor in the drama “It's Okay, That's Love” in 2014.

His other drama credits include "The Greatest Marriage," "Beautiful Mind," "Confession Couple," "Come and Hug Me," "Touch Your Heart," "Search: WWW" and "Born Again."
