After 1 positive, 2 negative COVID-19 test results, solon decides to skip SONA


Deputy Speaker and Misamis Occidental 2nd District Rep. Henry Oaminal on Monday, July 26 decided to leave the House of Representatives despite getting “negative” results in two COVID-19 tests he took since Sunday.

Oaminal said he decided to participate in yesterday afternoon’s continuation of the session via zoom after physically attending the morning session The House official reportedly tested positive for COVID 19 on the night of July 25, based on the result of the RT-PCR test he underwent.

In disbelief, Oaminal had himself immediately re-tested past midnight on Monday, a few hours after receiving the positive findings. This time, the result that came back early Monday morning showed him negative to the virus.

The House official attended the morning opening of the regular session after getting a confirmation of his negative RT-PCR test.

He underwent an antigen test given by the Lower House. Again, he tested negative.

Contacted by Manila Bulletin, Oaminal said he will issue a statement to clear the issue on Tuesday.

The Mindanaoan lawmaker disclosed that he recovered from COVID 19 infection last May.

Many doctors believe that persons who recovered from COVID 19 develop antibodies that protect them from the virus for at least three months.
