More families evacuated in Manila


More families in the city of Manila have been evacuated after continuous heavy rains flooded many areas in the city on Saturday (July 24).

The total number of families that have been evacuated climbed to 526 families, based on the data of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

A total of 155 families from District 1, 84 families from District 3, and 287 families from District 5.

The evacuees have been transferred to temporary shelters in the city which are Jose Abad Santos High School, Building 1 covered court, Barangay Hall Rooftop, PCI Building, barangay hall of Barangay 661, and Baseco Evacuation Center.

MDRRMO has set up tents for each family in the evacuation centers.

Each family will receive hot meals and food boxes that contain rice, canned goods, instant noodles, and coffee, according to the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).

Re Fugoso, MDSW director, has visited the evacuation centers to make sure that all the evacuees are in good condition.

A total of 2,078 individuals in Manila have been affected by the inclement weather, according to MDSW.
