Marikina River swells to alarming 14.6 meters


Due to continuous heavy rains, the water level of Marikina River has reached 14.6 meters on Friday night (July 23).

The Marikina City Public Information Office (PIO) said that the water level of Marikina River hit 14.6 meters around 8:16 p.m.

Once the water level of the river reaches 15 meters, first alarm will be raised, and the city government will then sound sirens to alert residents living in low-lying areas in Marikina.

For any emergency, Marikina residents may dial 161 to contact the rescue unit.

Heavy rainfall brought about by the southwest monsoon has caused massive flooding in parts of Metro Manila.
