With a stronger commitment to excellent public service amidst the pandemic, Philippine Collective Media Corp. (PCMC), a domestic corporation currently engaged in the business of radio and television broadcasting, began to expand its station to 35 more “underserved areas” in the country this year.
PCMC President Sofonias Gabonada Jr. said that they are looking for 35 areas as the corporation’s next growth areas. Gabonada said they are now on the 18th station, including the station for streaming in Fairview and Makati.
“This coming week, Monday, we will be going to Southern Leyte, Maasin, and Bacolod. Those are site inspections and technical inspections after which we will start constructing the studios there and after a month and a half, we will be launching the studios,” Gabonada said.
“Our motivation really is to provide alternative sources of information and entertainment, most importantly to areas that were underserved. Although there are local stations in the area, it's also important to come up with a network type information delivery system both for TV and radio,” he added.
PCMC started its operation in Tacloban in 2009 as a regional station. “It plays a very significant role and we would like to share this role to the rest of the country, not just in Region 8. We are just a small network, but we dream big. We dream big every day,” Gabonada said.
Aside from giving alternative sources of information, PCMC is committed to excellent public service. Recently, they partnered with the Department of Education to air “Radyo Eskwela” to provide them a platform for continuous learning across the country and the Department of Health for health-related advisories.
The PCMC president also bared that they have many more plans in terms of expansion, especially in preparation for 2022 elections. The corporation hopes to get veteran and well-known personalities to expand the organization of PCMC.
“We need to provide people with a better platform to inform them of basically everything in terms of their choices in 2022, what do we expect for 2022, and these areas of concern are also our concerns. We will be providing the people with the right, timely, and relevant information,” he said.
It can be recalled, Prime Media Holdings Inc. has signed a memorandum of understanding with PCMC shareholders to create “a viable and operational enterprise.” Prime signed the deal with PCMC shareholders for a share-for-share swap deal.
