Sulu Provincial Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives uprooted and destroyed some P10-million worth of marijuana plants in a one hectare marijuana plantation they discovered in Sitio Tangan-Tangan, Barangay Lingah, Luuk, Sulu last Saturday, July 17.
The illegal plantation consisted of approximately 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P9.46-million.
PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives also arrested a certain Bakil whose cohorts escaped during the operation.
Bakil is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the 2002 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Authorities burned the crops after obtaining a handful of plants for evidence purposes.
A statement from PRO-BAR said the office intends to intensify its drug operation to fully curb the supply of illegal drugs in the Bangsamoro region.
