Marijuana plantation discovered; P10-M worth of marijuana plants destroyed in Sulu

Sulu Provincial Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives uprooted and destroyed some P10-million worth of marijuana plants in a one hectare marijuana plantation they discovered in Sitio Tangan-Tangan, Barangay Lingah, Luuk, Sulu last Saturday, July 17.

The illegal plantation consisted of approximately 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P9.46-million.

PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives also arrested a certain Bakil whose cohorts escaped during the operation.

Bakil is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the 2002 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Authorities burned the crops after obtaining a handful of plants for evidence purposes.

A statement from PRO-BAR said the office intends to intensify its drug operation to fully curb the supply of illegal drugs in the Bangsamoro region.
