By now, fans of award-winning actress Aiko Melendez are aware that she's running for Congress in May 2022.

Before she gets busy with the political campaign, Aiko said that she has wrapped up the suspense-dama movie "Huwag Kang Lalabas."

"The title is timely. 'Huwag Kang Lalabas.' I will appear in the first episode with Bembol Roco. Beauty Gonzales is featured in the second episode. And then there's the final episode," Aiko said. The movie is directed by Adolf Alix Jr.

Aiko's last movie with a thriller peg was "Puwera Usog" in 2017. A year later, she appeared in the award-winning film "Rainbow Sunset."

On television, Aiko will start shooting the follow-up to the blockbuster teleserye "Prima Donnas" for the Kapuso Network.

"I'm happy to announce baka sometime in August po mag-i-start na po kaming mag-taping, hopefully kapag wala pong aberya at hindi po nag-iba ang protocol po dito sa banda natin, we'll finally start 'Prima Donnas' Book 2," she said.

Asked what to expect on Book 2 of the TV series, Aiko said: "Wala pa talaga akong idea kasi as of the moment nung kausap namin ang creative , pinag-iisipan nila, yung last part kasi, dun sa mga nakapanood po, di ba ang end part po is dumilat yung mga mata ni Kendra? So hindi natin alam kung pagdilat ng mga mata ni Kendra kung bumait ba siya o mas lalong sumama. Iyon ang dapat nilang abangan."

Aiko also revealed that her boyfriend, Vice Governor Jay Khonghun of Zambales, will run for Congress in the first district of Olongapo City in Zambales.

"Pabor ako sa pagtakbo niya sa Congress," she said, adding that she's supportive of Jay's journey to politics.

When asked why he's running in 2022, Jay said: "Para ipagpatuloy ko ang mga tulong na naumpisahan ng aking ama na si Congressman Jeffrey Khonghun."

Aiko added: "I can't see anyone fit and ready for that position but him, in terms of credentials and all. Jay is ready to take the responsiblity na naumpisahan ng kanyang ama. With the experience na nine years na mayor siya, tapos nag-legislative din siya as vice governor, so hinog na si Jay to be a congressman."

This is Jay's first term as vice-governor of Zambales and the last term for his father as congressman in the first district of Zambales.

"Since last term na ng dad niya, siya ang may pinaka-okay na track record to run for the position na iiwan ng dad niya. He also became a Board Member, which is a legislative branch," Aiko added.
