Veteran setter Tina Salak is coming out of retirement to play for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference slated to start on Saturday in Ilocos Norte.

The announcement came from the team’s official Facebook page, welcoming the 44-year-old as a playing assistant coach.

“The newest member has arrived!” the post read along with a picture of Salak.

Salak played for the Army Lady Troopers from 2005 to 2016 before joining the Cocolife Asset Managers from 2017-2018.

She briefly played for Cocolife before focusing on her coaching three years ago.

She was also a member of the national women’s team that won bronze at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

“It’s really an honor and privilege to coach ‘the legendary Tina Salak,’” said Chery Tiggo coach Aaron Velez.

“I didn’t expect it all. The decision to include her in the roster was sudden, but a good decision I would say.”

The team opens its campaign on Saturday against the PLDT Home Fibr Hitters at 1 p.m.
