Pandemic heroes in gov’t service to be featured in CSC photo contest

The country’s public servants who have risen to the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic are to be featured in this year’s 2021 Photography Contest launched by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

CSC employees

The CSC announced that they will accept entries until July 30.

All government workers regardless of employment status except employees of the CSC including their relatives up to second degree of affinity or consanguinity may join the contest, which is part of the Commission’s 121st Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) celebration in September.

“The Civil Service Commission is calling for entries to the 2021 Photography Contest, which aims to highlight through images the various ways our country’s civil servants or lingkod bayani have risen to the challenges brought about by the pandemic,” it said in a statement.

The CSC will hold the virtual recognition ceremony for regional and national winners on Sept. 22, 2021.

Aside from receiving cash prizes, winners will have their work featured on the CSC website, www.csc.gov.ph, and official Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/civilservicegovph, the Commission said.

Photo entries

One entry for each contestant is allowed.

The CSC said the entry should adhere to the contest theme, “Pagtugon ng Lingkod Bayani sa Patuloy na Hamon ng Pandemya”.

“Photo entries will be assessed on content and adherence to the theme, visual impact, creativity and originality, and photograph quality,” it said.

Contestants are required to submit their photo entries in digital JPEG or JPG format (horizontal image or vertical image) with at least 300 dpi and maximum file size of 10 MB.

Photographs must be original and must not contain copyrighted materials, and must be colored (black and white or sepia photographs will be automatically disqualified), the Commission reminded.

“Watermarked photographs and those that have been previously submitted or have won in any local or international photography contest will also be disqualified,” it added.

Submission guidelines

Contestants must submit each entry with their full name, and other relevant information about the photo, including the title, caption, location and date, and camera or device used.

"Contestants should submit their entries via email to the CSC Regional Office (ROs) to which they belong. For example, if the contestant is residing in Quezon Province, he or she should submit the entry to CSC Regional Office IV. For the complete email addresses of CSC ROs, refer to www.csc.gov.ph/cscrod,” the CSC said.
