The two Pop figures are part of the Pop College line and the first university mascots outside of the United States to be in the category.

"At first the idea was to do basketball player, one in La Salle jersey, one in Ateneo jersey and we saw Funko did the college mascots in the US so we taught why not just the college mascot," Nikko Lim of Funko Fanatic Philippines said in an interview with CNN Philippines.

The project was originally planned to launch in 2020, but due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the release date had to be pushed to a later date.

Erich Cabochan, co-owner of Filbar said they also plan to eventually include more Pop figures from various Philippine universities.

"The idea is to really expand the line, so hopefully with the very good receptions of these two colleges from the Philippines to be made, eventually we'll be able to have the other colleges as well," Cabochan added.

The Funko Pop figures will be available at Filbar's stores starting July 12.
